A nomadic online and virtual gallery space (and artist agency) for emerging and mid-career artists

“For as long as I can remember, a personal motto of mine has been "if you can't find a space in your [desired] industry, sometimes it is necessary to make and/or create your own."”

A note from our founder and director Zoë Goetzmann

The Artist Workspace (AWS) is an online and virtual nomadic gallery [as well as a (pop-up) agency]. We are the leading gallery for both digital and fine artists based in London. With a combined 10 years of experience working in the art world, it is through the mutually curated eyes of both director and founder Zoë Goetzmann as well as through our AWS network that we strive to find emerging promising talent creating and working in London, the U.K. as well as the rest of the world.

At AWS, we strive to put 'Artists First' - taking a lower commission [due to our online status] so that the artist retains the 'lion-share' portion of their profits.

How we can help you

  • (1)

Low commission [30%] on artwork sales

  • (2)

A space to exhibit and promote works online, virtually as well as in physical [pop-ups] in London

  • (3)

Editorial promotion and consultation: we strive to help you tell your ‘artist story’

The Process

The Artist Workspace (AWS) is an online and virtual gallery with nomadic pop-ups. We are a leading gallery for both digital and fine artists based in London. With a fresh take on the industry, Zoë Goetzmann and guest curator, Nina Paiva, worked together to curate and find emerging promising talent in London, the UK and the rest of the world.

At AWS, we strive to put 'Artists First' - taking a lower commission so that the artist retains the 'lionshare' portion of their profits.

Why work with The Artist Workspace?

1) We are a women-led business

2) We strive to offer a low commission [below the traditional 50%-50% gallery split]

3) We strive to find emerging talent in the fine art and digital art world

4) We cater specifically to emerging (and mid-career artists), providing them with additional consultation to help to build their art careers

Brand values

  • In this increasingly ‘un-regulated’ and ‘non-transparent' art world landscape, AWS holds transparency at the forefront of its promotional and selling practices

  • Representation is a key value held by AWS – striving to find artists working in variety of different disciplines: from traditional to digital mediums

  • Curation is a top priority for AWS. Through our AWS network – comprised of experienced art professionals – we strive to select high quality, innovative works of art

  • With female artists in the art world making up '2%' of the art market, accessibility and visibility represent key principles for AWS. In this seemingly 'impenetrable' art world system, AWS strives to establish an accessible, concrete 'bridge' via its online space, community and virtual gallery

Zoë Goetzmann

@byzoesera

Director and Founder Zoë Goetzmann is a former graduate from Sarah Lawrence College, The Sotheby's Insitute of Art and The Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design.

The concept for this gallery space has been a dream in the making - inspired by her thesis written at Sotheby's which focused on the phenomenon of Instagram and its potential disruptive capabilities.

AWS became a way for Zoë Goetzmann to build a bridge between the digital and more traditional art worlds - seeking to merge these two worlds together which have been separated far too long.

Zoë is an experienced Arts writer whose works have been published via Artsy as well as in Create! Magazine. For Zoë, the idea of telling artists' stories is essential and is the aspect of her writing that she values and emphasizes the most.

    curator - @ninapaivaa

Nina is a British-Brazilian curator who recently received first-class honours for her MA in Social Anthropology at Goldsmiths University, following her BA in Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts (UAL). Her current anthropological research focuses on the many depictions of cultural gender binaries through art, having recently worked with 12 women artists across 6 countries. This has influenced her passion for uncovering how art can represent alternative mindsets and environmentalities. Nina aims to create a path for emerging artists to navigate the industry and build a safe environment whilst breaking down traditional barriers.
