Halfway Between An Atom & A Star
“Poetry is the deification of reality, and one of its purposes is to show that the dimensions of man are, as Sir Arthur Eddington said, ‘halfway between those of an atom and a star.’”
-Edith Sitwell
The Artist Workspace collaborates with LUCIAN once again on another solo exhibition in the heart of Soho (timed aptly during Frieze Week). His new contemporary artworks (and central, re-envisioned Triptych piece) aims to explore bright colours, line and form - investigating the repetitive patterns of Pop Art and the gestural excitement of figurative painting. Through his latest collection, the artist subverts traditional religious iconographies: Creating a chapel of Pop Art in London’s (busiest) / most creative centre.
LUCIAN (b. 1988) is a London artist and an activist whose artwork has been acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum. He is a former student of Camberwell, UAL (and of the marketing industry). LUCIAN has exhibited in multiple solo and group exhibitions with Nomad Projects, Kings Road (Chelsea, London), The Artist Workspace Gallery (15 Bateman Street) and the Design Museum.
